About

TOSHIO ACUPUNCTURE

Toshio’s practice has greatly evolved since 2005. Rather than limit his focus to certain illnesses, treatment modalities or parts of the body as many practitioners do, he has instead found himself becoming something akin to a General Practitioner in Eastern medicine.

Toshio believes in treating the whole person, not just bits, pieces or single systems, and doesn’t follow one model of healing or just one style of acupuncture. Instead he has been able to take the best of each developed model in the healing arts to treat patients with a very personal, individual treatment plan, rather than relying on strict or prescribed protocols.

In this model, Toshio is able to keep his practice fresh, always learning, growing and developing to offer a “custom-built” approach in the assessment, treatment and follow-up care plan for each client.

My Philosophy

The use of energy pathways and meridians drew me to Oriental medicine.  My first experience of chakras was as a child.  I often though it was strange that I was able to feel my hand at the bridge of my nose without making contact.  As I grew older and more socialized, I stopped thinking about the sensations until I was about 14 years old, one year after my brother Travis died.  After Travis died, I became less open to alternative views of spirituality.  About that time, my father asked me to watch a video about energy work.  I was ready to walk away from the nonsense of invisible energy centers until the host described how chakras felt I then remembered the feeling from my childhood.  I waited just long enough to see if there was a chakra at the bridge of the nose.  While the video claimed it was between the brows, that was close enough for me to leave in bewilderment, rather than disbelief.

A simple idea of a healer is, one who restores health.  However, from a simple definition comes some complex thought.  I believe that for a person to be restored to a whole state of being, it requires the balance of health between the physical body, mental state, and emotional expressions.  In this sense, everyone from a medical doctor, to a police officer, to a friend who is simply willing to listen, can be a healer.

For many years I endured pain from a back injury.  I was told by doctors and one chiropractor that the trauma would not heal.  Years later I visited another chiropractor who explained the methods by which I would be able to heal; verily I began to heal.  My search for wholeness has lead to the study of yoga, tai-chi, and nutrition.  I believe that these practices bring attunement to one’s sensitivity about balance.  Through yoga I have found the unity of mind and body, thru tai-chi I have found a focus of energy, and nutrition has brought connection between the health of the world inside my body and the health of the world outside.

TESTIMONIALS – TOSHIO ACUPUNCTURE

“Where do I even start Toshio is amazing”. I owe my new life to him. I started to see Toshio about a year ago to help with a running injury as well as stress and anxiety. I have always been afraid of needles so I wasn’t too excited about trying acupuncture, but after numerous failed treatments for my injury I thought it couldn’t hurt. After my first treatment I felt immediate relief and from that moment on was “sold.” I no longer have the chronic leg pain, and my stress and anxiety have continued to lessen with every visit.”

“From the moment I met Toshio I knew there was something special, genuine, and virtuous about him.
Toshio is sympathetic, a wonderful listener, extremely gentle, open minded, always professional, and has been very accommodating as far as scheduling around my limited availability.

I first began to see Toshio to address personal issues such as addiction, depression, sleep problems, and extreme stress. I had never had acupuncture before, and I was nervous and scared. Toshio walked me through the process, and still includes my feedback when determining what treatments to use on me. My anxiety about my first appointment was quickly resolved, and the treatments I received were helpful in reducing or eliminating my symptoms.

I feel completely confident in Toshio’s ability to access new or existing clients, and to preform accurate and therapeutic treatments.
A few months after I started seeing Toshio, I got in a car accident and as part of my “recovery treatment” I chose to continue to see Toshio for “rehab/treatment” on my lower, middle, and upper back as well as my neck (which has needed the most work). Toshio has helped me reduce the pain in my back and neck, and I went from feeling extremely intense pain to feeling only mild discomfort most of the time.

After a session with Toshio, I always feel more relaxed, rejuvenated, and mentally cleansed. I feel less stress, less physical and mental pain, and less detached from the world.
Whenever someone asks about my acupuncture treatments, I tell them that I have nothing but praise and respect for the work that Toshio does.”
